Title: Tall Green Jug....is it Whitefriars?

I had this jug given to me in the 70's by a friend who was clearing his Mother's effects after she died.
It has a lot of age wear to the base,  but as I don't collect jugs,  I can't be sure if it is Whitefriars or not.
I won't be disappointed if it isn't, but would just like to know........any one who can help here again please?  ;D
14" tall .......sorry, I meant to add.

Maybe Empoli and I would say 1960s/70s

Thanks again Christine and JP.......now, I am on a steep learning curve, so can you give me some idea as to why it is obvious this isn't W/F.....just a few pointers for future reference? Please... :-*

The only way is to spend time looking at the Whitefriars catalogues and the Whitefriars websites.

I started doing that Christine,  but I keep getting waylaid by all the other glass.......I'm currently looking at all the wannabees!!  No sleep for me tonight! Methinks a big cup of coffee is in order!  :t:

Rossini jumps to mind - one of the more elegant Empoli makers. Or Boussu, from Belgium.  When you got it it must have been brand new.

Hi Rosie, I steer clear of this type of jug and always say "I don't do jugs"! Unless I just want one for the home for water or lemonade.  There are just too many "wannabees" of very similar shapes to the Whitefriars ones.  If however, you are determined to find a Whitefriars tall jug, then the best thing is to spend a LOT of time looking at the catalogues, making note of the catalogued colours and position of handle etc.  Some of the many Polish or Italian makers made loads of similar jugs, but there is always a slight shape or handle position which differs from the WF ones in my experience.  And many of the foreign jugs also had a polished pontil mark which of course to many people ONLY signifies WF when it does not - of course you know that but loads of people do not.

Oh Emmi,  you have just made me laugh so much.....my favourite expression in glass collecting is 'I don't do jugs'......in fact I think I put that in one of the groups I pictured in 'Show me yours and I'll show you mine'!!
I really don't collect them,  but thought it was about time I found out more about the ones I have got, as I have recently found out I had a dish I thought was a cheap and cheerful piece that turned out to be a bit more special....see this link!
