Title: Tall smokey Scandinavian style vase with Kluk kluk like indentations
Post by: rocco on October 29, 2011, 12:19:32 PM
Tall, smokey green vase for ID :)

Appr. 40.5 cm high, flat and polished base, triangular shaped lower part with indentations similar to the Kluk kluk decanters.

Could be quite recent, too, but the base is very well finished, and has quite some wear...
I was thinking of Magnor because of the style of the rim, but couldn't find anything similar.

Any help very much appreciated as usual!

Thanks
Michael

As I am always very sad  when I get zero replies (not to mention an ID ;D), I have to bump this.

I searched high and low, contemporary departmentstore stuff (using "tall vase, long neck vase, bottle vase, pinched vase" etc. -- unfortunately my English comes to a limit describing this piece), and output of all major and minor Scandinavian glassworks, but couldn't find anything remotedly similar...

It would be great to get at least some opinions whether this could be a newer or older piece, meaning if it is worth further research or not.

Thanks! :)
Michael

Maybe extend your search to Italy?

Or maybe America? Viking?

Thanks a lot, Ivo and Christine!

So maybe not that recent, nice. :)
I will have a look into the suggested companies (Ivo, with Italy you meant Empoli region, or Murano?)

I found a Pilgrim Glass bottle here some weeks ago, something I had never expected to appear in Austria; so even American origin wouldn't surprise me...

Triangular bottle vases were very popular in Empoli in the sixties early seventies - i have several variants. This could be another one....

Thanks, Ivo!

Empoli seems to be a strong possibility; only thing I am not so sure about is the base finish -- the pieces I have seen on the web seem to have either an unfinished or a ground pontil, unlike the flat polished base my vase has. The closest I could find was this decanter (http://retroartglass.com/store/item/38an3/View_All_Glass/Italian_vintage_Empoli_blown_glass_tri_corner_decanter.html), similar colour and style, but different base as well.

BTW, I hope my pics are better than my description -- Kluk Kluk is not really the right term I guess, the glass in the lower part has really been pressed together, leaving only 3 tubular cavities towards the bottom...
