No, but un-ID'd as far as I'm aware. Very common though.

Many thanks Christine..... I had a peek in your Gallery....wow :hiclp:....I'll take a packed lunch and a tent a bit later a go explore properly.....

You're welcome. Enjoy. I have one of these brown things too, but it's in a box and hasn't smiled for the camera yet.

This was discussed at least once before. If you google Dal Borgo Murano Glass you'll see others with labels.

Hi Gareth :hi:
Please can I take this opportunity to mention that Wedgwood doesn't have an 'e' in the middle.
I know it sounds pedantic, but I can't tell you how much it irritates....especially when an item has a label with Wedgwood on it and the seller still adds the extra 'e'!
At least in this case, regardless of whether it is Wedgwood or not, (and I really wouldn't know :pb:) at least they got the spelling right!
So your title for this thread was perhaps more accurate than the eBay seller's item!! :sun:
-
Apart from pedantry, the mis-spelling throws the Search function out too cos it's not smart enough to know they both mean the same firm. :o
-
But would English spelling rules not indicate that the "e" should be there (i.e., to soften a vowel, put an "e" behind it).
Carolyn :wsh: :ooh:

Carolyn, English spelling is quirky at the best of times though!!! <lol>
-
A genuine Wedgwood one if it helps.......

That's an understatement. To quote the good Dr. Suess. "The tough coughs as he ploughs the dough" :thud:

Except I believe Dr Seuss was American, not English, and look what they did to 'Tomato'!!
-
Okay, granted the Americans only think they speak English, but his quote remains correct. Whether it is tomato or tomahto, it is still the same spelling.

True! :sun:

But Seuss not .. ! Spelling police
That vase is 100% Murano Dal Borgo though.

I reiterate what I said in this link http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,32458.0.html
Has anyone seen a labelled one?
It's interesting that the labelled Dal Borgo paperweights all appear to be Chinese!! And as Ivo says the company's location (which is not on Murano) seems to preclude manufacturing, as does the number of employees 2-5!!

lol, now they're "Scandinavian style" http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200671946721&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:GB:1123

They do kind of look like that way to the initiated such as I which was what prompted my initial question.....but hey...whats in a name anyway.....

I think it's very fair to call them Scandinavian style.

Many of us have seen a labelled Dal Borgo 'hyacinth' vase. Aren't they from the 50s or is that hearsay?
a2

I will remain skeptical until someone actually produces a picture with a label, though I think we can probably rule out made in Murano

The current one I can find is that mentioned here previously, I think - the one on Flickr / art of glass. Although as someone said, it appears to be a Venetian dealer's label.

Hmm, still not convinced, as the label looks to have been peeled off and restuck. Either way we don't know the manufacturer.
