Murray you should not put the same item into two or more different discussion groups.  Best if you are not sure is to put it into the "Glass" area witha suitable heading (which you have done here).  The Moderators will rapidly move it to another area if they think the expertise in that area will be more focussed.  If an item is very specific - eg. it is marked Orrefors then it may be sensible to put it directly into its area - "Scandinavian Glass" in that case.  You are uncertain of its origin so why put it in Murano if it could be someone else?

The glass looks to me like the type that would have the "Lavorazione Arte Murano" blue stickers on it. The "arte Murano" refers to the glass being made in the style of Murano glass in this case. I believe the glass is made in Italy, but not in Murano. Hope this helps some.

BTW, welcome to the group. We are a very friendly group, so don't be put off by the correction. A lot of people do the same thing the first time they are here.

:) :) Just want to apologise if I sounded a bit too formal.  I too remember trying to get started on this forum.  I forgot  :-[ as usual to welcome you as a new member of the group.  There are so many real experts in so many diverse fields within the glass community.  All I wanted to do was point out some of the basic procedures that have been found to work well, hope I did not offend  - and for goodness sake do not let me put you off posting more queries if you have them.

Ross

PS   It is very desirable to get the best out of the board to scan through the Section above Glass on Board Announcements etc.  The etiquette, etc. that makes this a great place to use is outlined there.
