I've been hoping to buy one of these for a while and finally got this one. But I was surprised by the radiating lines at the back - all of the other ones I've seen have only had the circles.
I've checked the board and found a thread regarding one of the afore-mentioned (circles only) looking for an ID. I can't find that thread now but I'm pretty sure there that ID remained unknown.
I just wondered if someone out there may be able to point me in the right direction with this one? It is roughly 3" wide.
Many thanks.

I have seen them in red and blue but that is the first with a fan tail. Vases in a similar style with cut circles also crop up but so far I think the maker remains a mystery.
I keep looking for a labeled example...

Thanks John. Yes, I've not seen the 'fan tail' before (thanks for the words - I didn't know how to describe those lines!). Funny how such an iconic looking design, such as these ashtrays are, should be a mystery. Well, here's hoping for an ID one of these days. :X:

Will you use it Nancy? I use this one

Not this one though far too good

Nice ashtrays! I like the first one. I don't think I'll use it daily but maybe for a wee change now and then from this one which I've been using for many years. :sm:

Chris and Nancy, both of you are using pieces which are much too attractive to be used for ashes and butts. :spls: Chris, your blue ashtray with the metal fitting is so lovely and elegant. And Nancy, your Peceny ashtray has got me envious. (I've got the matching vase: here (https://picasaweb.google.com/105348959949603419807/CzechPressedGlassALLDESIGNERS#5672969870455841010).)

In a way I know what you're saying Anik, but, unlike 'art pieces' our ashtrays were meant to be used!

Whitefriars ? ::)

I don't know Chris. I'm actually the losing bidder on that one! I did a bit of a search to see if I could find anything like this by Whitefriars, but no luck. I reckon it would have been ID'd by someone on the GMB if it was Whitefriars. But who knows? (I think I'll let this one go BTW - 2 is just greedy!)
Thanks for looking though!

Hi Nancy,
Saw a bowl today same blue colour and cutting, label marked J G Durand Cristal France.

Wow Chris. That's great information. Did the bowl have both the circles and the fantail shape? I must have a quick google. Thanks!
-
Just the cutting I think? will get it out of the cabinet and have a proper look next time.

Crossed wires Chris? I thought you meant that when you were out and about you chanced to spy something similar to the ashtray design - or were you just passing by your cabinet?

My house is very big ;D no Nancy it was in an antique centre which I visit every week :sun:

Ha! That splains it! ;D

I turned out to be greedy after all. I now have 3 of this type of ashtray - the 2 most recent ones have circles only (no fantail). I hadn't realised that they were made in different sizes too. Very pleased! :girlcheer:
