Title: Pretty sure this is Sowerby but can anyone confirm?
Post by: wolkenreb on November 12, 2011, 09:59:03 AM
Hi.  I getting some stuff ready for listing on Ebay and I just wanted to check this one.  I'm pretty sure it's Sowerby but can't find a reference (although I thought I had seen one before).  Can anyone confirm?  Thanks.

It's about 3 inches high and 5.5 inches wide.  Ta.

I believe this is a Davidson item, known as M.T.1 posy set (the mould for which probably came from Matthew Turnbull). This info comes from Chris & Val Stewart and you can see the item on their Davidson website (Identifying Davidson Glass Post WW2).

The item interests me as it is known in Carnival Glass. I believe it was almost certainly made in Carnival by Turnbull. In Carnival it is known as the 'Towers' vase, and is widely (and incorrectly) (mis)identified as Sowerby.

Thanks for your quick reply Glen.  I was actually just looking at an earlier post you responded to regarding this same vase here http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php?topic=20438.0

So I guess it's safe to list it as Davidson (unless it was made by Turnbull earlier, but I guess there's no way of knowing).
