:hi:
I just got this the other day here in town. I have no clue. The tangerine color makes me think Chalet -- but no markings, and the base would not be correct for Chalet. I might think Murano, but again the base is not correct. It is one heavy, thick bowl!! Has lots of wear on the bottom, but I have no clue still. Here are the measurements for the bowl:
~ 7.25 by 6.50 inches wide
~ 3.25 inches tall
~ RIM is just over 1 inch Thick!!
~ Weight is approx. 4.2 pounds
~ Does contain some manganese for a bit of a glow (?) if that helps at all
This is one solid piece of glass, I tell you. The rim is thicker than an Blue Barbini piece I have here Any ideas at all, as I have no clues... (http://serve.mysmiley.net/confused/confused0024.gif)

Hi Rose
I don't know who made it, but it's a gorgeous bowl and the base is markedly similar to a large very heavy Murano glass bowl I have (don't know maker of my bowl but am 99.99% sure it is Murano glass). The base is also similar to another bowl I found when researching mine. So I think it could be Murano glass....but sorry I can't help any further on it.

Thanks flying free :kissy:
Did you have a link for yours? Was it post here on the board?
It does seem to be a quality piece, and well made (weighs a ton) but I have not ran into very much *tangerine* color Murano glass at all while trolling the Net. So might this be a rarer color, if Murano. Thought I had read that somewhere too in the past.....somewhere. Base does seem to support (old) good wear.
Would like to see your item as this is all a learning process for me then.....and Thanks for your response!!

Rose,
The base is just fine for Murano. It's been made in an optic mould, very popular in the 60's to 80's with a number of companies making them.

Thanks All for your input and confirmation that this is Murano :kissy:
TxSilver also believes this to be Murano http://www.fossilfly.com/Forums/showthread.php?t=3869 (http://www.fossilfly.com/Forums/showthread.php?t=3869)........so I am happy that I took that (uncertain) chance on it for the price. It was worth the gamble. LOL
It is one *Bright* colored bowl  .....See if I can still find something like it, but I will not hold my breath that I ever will

It may be relevant, or not, but my green vase has got very similar, thickly cased lobes. See here (http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,32614.15.html)... In that thread, David very kindly provides pictures of some of his bases for comparison. :)

Thank you for the link :kissy:
I was looking for that link myself -- as I had remembered your green glass item and knew I had comment there -- I just could not find the link. So yes, I was looking for that very post also....so Thanks for finding it and posting it here!
