Title: Small, delicate humming bird sipping from flower - lovely colours
Post by: wolkenreb on November 14, 2011, 01:11:17 PM
My heart has been in my mouth when handling this delightful little thing.  It is SO delicate, especially the beak.

As can be seen from the photos, the flower and bird can be separated.  When in position it measures 4" in height.  The colouring of the bird is just lovely, with an almost opalescent quality about it.  The eyes are little crystals.

I'd like to find out everything I can about it.  I don't even know the glass making process used to make this.  Any info at all, no matter how trivial it may seem, would be greatly appreciated as always!

I think I've found it, or at least the maker, Mayflower Glass, here http://www.mayflowerglass.co.uk/xcart/product.php?productid=16200&cat=0&page=1
so it's pretty new, which surprises me.  And mine certainly doesn't weigh 1kg.  My one looks so much nicer, but this must be the maker as they are so similar.  A bit disappointing but it is still a really beautiful thing and I LOVE IT! Having a bit of a debate with myself here.  This one from Mayflower on Ebay - definitely much bigger and less delicate than mine.  I'll need to look into this some more! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Glass-humming-bird-flower-mayflower-glass-new-/120790284698?pt=UK_Collectables_AnimalCollectables_SM&hash=item1c1fa9799a
