Title: 8 lbs (3.6 Kg) of glass - who made it?
Post by: thomas on November 18, 2011, 06:55:49 AM
This vase is 13.5" (34.3cm) tall, 6" (15.2cm) wide and weighs 8 lbs (3.6 Kg).  The glass appears yellowish is several photos but it is clear.  That's all I know.  I'm hoping someone will be able to identify the maker or offer an opinion on it's age and origin.

I'm not sure this one has any link to yours, but it reminded me I'd seen this linked one on my researching.
The header on the link queries Japanese but I believe it was decided it was Chinese.

Thank you for the link.  The 2 vases definitely have the same origin.  The seals on the two are identical.  It was decided that it was Chinese not Japanese but it was not decided whether to call it mainland China or Hong Kong/Taiwan.  I love the rich emerald green of his vase.  My vase doesn't show any indication of ever having inlaid gold.   Age was also left undecided - one person guessing 50's or 60's - another saying it could be quite old, possibly prewar.  With the emerald green color and inlaid gold, his vase is obviously a more elegant vase than the plainer version of mine.
