Hi
This is a heavy piece of very dark blue glass, into which a band of facets have been cut giving an opaque effect. It is 20cm wide and has a polished pontil mark.
Any help with ID appreciated.

BarryC welcome to the board. :)
Could you add a picture showing the base as well please and one of the top rim so we can see how it's been finished?

Thanks Anne
have added photos as requested.

Hi Barry, again welcome to GMB!
A very beautiful bowl, I saw a similar technique in Denmark last year:

Batutto! That's the word I was trying to think of earlier and couldn't. Thanks pamela. :kissy:
Thanks for the pics Barry... the way yours is made reminds me of these by Justin Turcotte with the band round the top, but they're not quite the same...
Edited to add... Might have helped to include the link ::) http://justindturcotte.blogspot.com/

Lovely bowl
Not meaning to hijack the thread - but I just wondered if this bowl / vase is the same technique - ie Battuto. I bought it about 6 months ago. It is Caithness
I loved the texture but didn't know what it was.
