Not my usual area of interest, but I liked the simple shape, and it was very cheap...
Cranberry coloured lidded jar, heavily veined decoration, outside with beautiful iridescence (doesn't show too well in my pics).
Diameter 11 cm, height 8 cm.
Looks old to me, but I don't know anything about this type of glass, so any help re maker / date very much appreciated!
Thanks,
Michael

It is gorgeous! reminds me of Kralik Martele, but it doesn't seem quite as regular in pattern somehow.
That might be worth investigating though :)

Thanks, m!
Kralik "Martelé" was the closest I could find in my search as well (but to me it does look more veined than hammered :))
Here is a footed Martelé bowl on Craig's fabulous site with similar decoration and colour: http://www.kralik-glass.com/kralik-images/martele/kmt4.jpg (http://www.kralik-glass.com/kralik-images/martele/kmt4.jpg)
BTW, my crappy pics don't do the piece justice (it just doesn't get bright outside these days, and my camera refuses to take nice pictures)

Reminds me of Loetz's chine' decor, but the "threading" of yours looks molded instead of applied. Lovely jar.
-
It's certainly a martele finish, which does look more veined than hammered.
-
Thanks Anita and Chrisitine!
I would think that the threading is moulded (I can post a detail pic tomorrow).
So Martelé is probable? Is it Kralik then, or did other makers use the same decoration?

This isn't the standard Martele, though it may be a variation of it. It does look like Kralik to me, and one of their nicer things IMO.

I am not sure who made this piece.....
The Martelé pattern on Kralik pieces is a pattern with a more consistent size to the areas separated by the raised "veins". This piece exhibits a large disparity in the space sizes within the various "veins". It could be Kralik, but if it is, it is not what I would classify as Martelé.
We have also now attributed a molded veined decor to Rindskopf, which opens up another door as far as direction to look. I am not that familiar with any Cranberry ground used by them at this point, but that does not mean they did not.... Just that we have not really seen or identified it as of yet....
An example of the molded vein decor (spider web) is attached.....
I have also attached an example of Kralik Martelé...
and the cranberry example from the site....

Craig, thanks a lot for your contribution, I was hoping you would have a look into this!
So not really Martelé...
The spider web decor piece you show doesn't look too similar either.
Any chance my jar can be attributed via colour or shape?
I attach 2 more pics, the second showing the pattern and the iridescence a little better.

We bought this jardiniere in Stockholm about ten years ago - I have not been able to attribute it yet. There are similarities with the lidded jar shown here. The pattern on my piece is moulded. The photo is rather an old one, taken with our old mavica some years back, so please excuse lack of detail.

Thanks, Glen -- beautiful piece!
Is the colour similar to mine? (Difficult to tell from the pic)
The pattern on your bowl seems more uniform than the one on my piece though -- so I would guess yours would classify as Martelé then?

The colour of the piece is pretty much the same as yours, Michael. But you are correct that the moulded pattern on mine is more uniform than yours. I am fairly clueless with regard to Bohemian Art Glass, so I will take my lead from those of you who know.
