Im sure ive seen this somewhere before but cant remember who it was made by or the age
Anyone help.

Looks like it would make a toothpick holder as well. Can't tell just from the pics, is it an appropriate size?

Try searching for georges sand and for portieux. I've not seen the sawn off version though.

Yes it may also be a tootpick holder.Also the georges sand that i can find is similar but the vessel is blue and the appendages amber which is reverse of what ive seen of georges sand.
I can remember seeing it maybe on a tv antiques program saying it was an early novelty salt in the form of a coal scuttle and usually it had a silver miniature coal shovel with it. Its one of those memorys that floated away and came back when i saw it but i just cant remember what else they said or what programme it was on. I keep getting Powell but that may have been something else in the programme.
