Please help to identify,
It looks like whitefriars but this is not a known pattern in bark. Just under 14 inches high, bark type effect, pontil mark underneath polished, tapering triangle shape, heavy 2 kilo approx (bathroom scales!!), narrow at bottom going wider to the top which is a smooth edge, ruby red in colour just like whitefriars. Thanks, Mark. :phew:

Hi,
I too would love to find out who made them as I've seen quite a number in different colours! don't think theres any great age to them probably within the last 10 years or so.
Warmest Wishes,
John

Thanks, its helpful to know they come in different colours, Mark

You are right it is not a Whitefriars like bark effect - and it probably is nowhere heavy enough either as in Whutefriars it would be crystal. Several Scandi makers made somewhat similar pieces to Whitefriars but because yours is so different I suspect it is a fashion designer piece - and it could be from just about anywhere. Good luck on your search.

Mark,as you were clearly not convinced your vase is not Whitefriars on your posting here: http://www.whitefriars.com/isit.php?pageNum_Recordset3=1, I have so far refrained from commenting here as I did not want to influence any input on this thread.
But a quick search on this Forum brought up this thread

Although the vase discussed was somewhat shorter than yours, it does rather look as if it may have come from the same maker. Often factories made a particular vase in more than one size. But as you will note, there is not a conclusive answer as to whom the maker was, but it is definitely not by Whitefriars.
A look on my Blog for Whitefriars "wannabees" will show you some of the many glass items which are regularly advertised or thought to be Whitefriars when they are not. (see my signature underneath for the link to the blog)

Thanks Emmi,
Interesting link, I bow to everybody's judgement on it not being whitefriars, too many No's!!!. But the link of the ruby red vase you sent me is the same shape and colour but it has a very odd rough finish to the base, like someone has taken a file to it (my glass is smooth and 'rounded' all over). Also the top edge has an odd overhanging lip, nothing like mine which is flush round the edge, 100% not by the same maker unless they had a bad day at the office!!. Thanks for your influential input, thats what these sites are all about, Mark.
