Title: Pressed glass vase... Sklo union or not?
Post by: Anik R on December 11, 2011, 09:10:54 AM
I bought this vase at the market this morning, quite confident it was from one of the Sklo Union factories.  But I've looked through Jindrich's Czech Glass DVD database, Marcus Newhall's catalogues, and my CGR notes, and it's not to be found anywhere.  Perhaps I was mistaken?

The vase is quite interesting.  It is 12cm high and 10,5cm wide at the top. It weighs 603g.  The lower body is slightly bulbous, tapering in towards the bottom and top.  The inside rim of the base has got zigzag teeth.

I hope someone recognises it.  Thank you for looking.

I know why I thought the vase might be from one of the S.U. factories... In my foggy memory, I thought it was similar to  this (https://picasaweb.google.com/Jindra8526/Glasrevue196112?authkey=Gv1sRgCLSTv7iJreX_lgE#5440654996670885698) vase at the bottom of the page, and / or  this (https://picasaweb.google.com/Jindra8526/Glasrevue19588?authkey=Gv1sRgCIakrf3F_sXzLQ#5439626387930685522) vase on the left.

Obviously not.

Help still greatly appreciated.

Oh! gmb links just appear as normal text for me so I can only find them by mousing over each word. Helps if you also select link and click on the B button to make it bold. I had moused over the text yesterday but obviously missed those words  :-\

Oh, that's odd.  And here I was, thinking that either you're confused, or that I'm a bit 'off'.
I'll bold my links in the future.  :)

Frank — I have often underlined links — when I remember.   I have a slight problem with red vision that can result in difficulty with both pale red and red letters in small font sizes, so I reasoned that some may have similar difficulties with other colours.   Does underlining help with your problem?   I don't bother when it's obvious, as here:

...   I love the Quebec Dairies website.   Many of the links it provides are also well worth exploring.   Here's the home page:

I guess the problem is the boards css, as it does not underline and colour links as it does on other sites and which is usually a default. Boards style obviously being cool  ;) I think you can force over-rides in browser, but that is a lot of bother...

It is possible hyperlinks not showing up could be about your browser settings? Just a thought. In my screen they were hard to spot as they don't really contrast in my browser window. I think it's because they're embedded too.

I did a little web design back in the manual days (LOL) and remember you had to think about background colours for text as not to make hyperlinks difficult to see or invisible.

I'd have bought that if I'd seen it. I cannot help with ID.

scavo, thank you for mentioning my vase. :)

Yesterday, I went through all of the post 50s catalogues on Pamela's glas-musterbuch (http://www.glas-musterbuch.de/h2-glas-br-musterbuch-de-h2.26.0.html) site, but came up with nothing.  My search continues.

Must be my aging eyes, colour difference is to slight in Firefox at least.

I use Safari and the links embedded in Anik's post are difficult to spot too.
