Does anyone know if this butterfly is by Pirelli? (I have compared with pictures in the Glass Zoo and looks similar.) Wing span is 4 inches. Thanks!

It looks highly likely, unfortunately with only the top view catalogue pictures it cannot be said to be certain. There are distinct Pirelli indicators but also some that seem not quite, which leaves it in limbo until we find a labelled one.

That's great Frank. Thanks.

In fact it is a pirelli butterfly, it was made by Don Richardson between 1960-1966. I worked next to Don at Potters bar.

Thank you so much Michael! That's lovely to know. And so interesting that you worked at Pirelli!
Did you make glass figures too?

Thank-you so much for coming here and contributing, Michael - welcome! :)
I do hope you will stick around - there will be a lot of people wanting to ask you lots of questions and to pick your brain, if you'd be kind enough to let us.

Thank you Mick for putting this discussion on the right lines.
I must admit I'm disappointed that no-one pointed out that my book on Pirelli Glass has definitive pictures of all Pirelli glass models including the original advertisement of the butterflies on page 72 and two examples of the Pirelli butterfly on pages 72 and 73. So many people worked with me over more than a decade to collect together a comprehensive set of photographs and to exclude any we were not absolutely sure about. Michael Munns was a wonderful help in clearing up the last few that we were having difficulty identifying. The Corning Glass Museum provided photographs of the only known example of the Pirelli illustrated catalogue.
Oh well, that's life. Bit sad though.

Not a problem. Ask away!
