Title: Pressed Glass Vase I.D Question

I thought this was very pretty but I'm wondering about the narrowing towards the bottom of the vase and the base which is indented. Is it meant to go into something perhaps or is it simply the way it has been made? I love the huge elongated thumbprint design and the little crosses. It's seven inches high. Any thoughts about its origin would be very much appreciated.

I am guessing here but could this be half of some sort of vase/comport. There's a similar setup illustrated in the Molineaux Webb pressed glass catalogue (image shown). I have seen a comport which takes the attachment seen in my image and it has a circular slot to take the vase. Maybe it's the same story with your piece?
