Title: Prototype/sample lemonade pitcher? 1930s?
Post by: scavo on December 19, 2011, 09:19:42 PM
I was more intrigued than impressed by this purchase.  It was cheap enough to have as a conversation piece.

The shape is a little clumsy and the finish also.  There are stress marks along the top lip (see photo) that have been partially hidden by the enamel decoration along the rim.

Showed it to a few mates who know about their own fields (not glass).

Could it be a glass student's work or something more interesting? Does it look familiar to anyone?  It was found in north west England. Any connection?

It came with 4 glasses.

It would have been standard production. Quality control standards were not as high as they are now; waste was too expensive; and purchasers didn't have the choice to be too fussy.

Thanks. A very valid and interesting point.
