Title: Unknown Art nouveau Vase - Kralik?
Post by: dirk. on January 03, 2012, 09:15:22 PM
Hi!

The vase is made of opalescent glass with marvered in flecks of green and has a lovely
iridized surface (which doesn't show too well in the pictures).
I'm leaning towards Kralik, because it shows some similarities to the green Silberband pieces -
missing the, err, Silberband.  ::)
It's 16cm tall.
Any ideas?

TIA
Dirk

Hi Dirk, I would lean towards Kralik on the piece also, although I have not seen one quite like it.... either shape or decor.....
They did love to use an Opalescent ground.....
As usual....  Nice find.....

Hi

I spotted this whilst browsing.

This unusual and rare finish is now attributed to Otto Thamm designer and boss of Fritz Heckert c1903, according to Passau and in the new Fritz Heckert book.

Now some things in this book are clearly right -and suprising- see my other recent post - for some other designs the evidence is less clear.

All I can add is some similar examples of a similar finish match the design drawings in the book well. It could well be right.

cheers

Mike
