Title: pressed glass bowl, pattern name or country of origin?
Post by: Hel on January 09, 2012, 12:31:50 AM
Hi, well I think this is pressed glass, It belonged to my late gradnmother.

When I was rinsing it in  warm water it got a crack ..I am afrain it will split in half

Does the pattern have a name and what country is it from?
its 30 cm across
Thanks for any comments!

Helga

The photos are a bit fuzzy, but I think this is the Imperial Glass Co. pressed pattern originally called "Bellaire 505" when it was initially introduced in 1913. Items were also made as "Collector's Crystal" beginning in the 1940s and continuing for many years thereafter.

Helga
The identification is wrong, this is not the Imperial pattern shown in at least one of the 3 volumes on Imperial Glass by that collector club, Editor James Measell.

It was James who replied to you  ;D Perhaps pictures from the top against a plain dark background would help.

Lustrousstone ~ I think you're misreading the post because I copied and pasted Helga's statement with her signature which unfortunately appears under my statement and at the bottom of the post. [ * ]  I came across this on a search and realize it's from 2012 but didn't think it right for this misidentification to remain for others to see.  There's no need for more pics, the pattern is clear at least to me, I thought if James Measell or Helga saw it, a correction might be in order.

[ * ] Mod: Quoted text in earlier post has been tidied up for clarity (EAPG's response was within the quote)

bfg ~ no matter, I just was compelled to set things straight, it's what I try to do in the glass field as you might guess from my user i.d. ;)

I understand that.

I was commenting that we haven't heard from Helga for a while - your correction to one of her posts reminded me of that fact
