I thought it might be Strathearn; now I don't know. Indented fire polished base. Mottled purple ground. 2.75 in diameter. Whatever, I'm very pleased with it, as it's my most complex yet.

Early Perthshire - but a PP1 (nominally 3") or PP2 (nominally 2.5") - or was there not such a clear disctinction as the literature suggests?
-
Thank you. Now I have a collection of Perthshires ;D

Hello, if there isnt a P cane in the middle with this pattern it should be a pre 1978 Perthshire PP1 about 3 inches in diameter. Do you use calipers to measure the diameter? Regards Roger.
-
Definitely no P and no callipers. Looking again it's between 2.75 and 3 inches, so a PP1. Thank you

I think it is a nice, neat, sharply detailed example of an early PP1. What always surprises me is the variation in these early Perthshire weights. Most as sharp, precise, and carefully made. Others look like the fog has descended....or my eyes have gone out of focus...

It's lovely and a bargain at £15 I suspect ;D

Even I would very happily have that, Christine - although it would have to be converted into the bathroom doorknob. >:D
A bit of a "whoopeee" find! :smg:
