Title: Italian? Czech? Help me ID this Beauty
Post by: P.LEE on January 26, 2012, 12:11:21 AM
Please help me ID this beauty -

Heavy, hot worked, graduated color piece which unfortunately has a big boo-boo - but I bought it years ago because I thought it was something "special"
I thought it was Italian until I saw some interesting IDs on this board pointing to fantastic Czech glass.

Flat bottom - no visible signatures -

So shoot me your best guess - no hurry.  I can take more images if you need them.

Thank you,
Pam

Nice piece Pam!

If you like this sort of glass you will find a lot of fellow collectors here! This is, as many here would tell you, a Skrdlovice 1955 vase designed by Jan Kotik, perform a search of the board and you will find several examples, you were on the right track thinking Czech glass, welcome aboard,

Robert (bOBA)

Thank you Robert - that helps me.

Forgot to mention the vase is about 8 1/4" tall - and here is an image of the "boo-boo" - more of a big owie.

A gorgeous vase, Pam!  I'm still waiting for one to find its way into my Skrdlovice collection.  Such a shame about the damage, though. That's a big boo-boo. (http://serve.mysmiley.net/sad/sad0094.gif) (http://www.footballerpictures.co.uk)

You could have that chip ground and polished out, it would not look 'perfect' but it would look a lot better.
