Hi
I got this in a community auction and wonder if anyone could tell me anything more about it. I've seen a few pictures of other similar dishes and assume they're widely made across Italy. Generic 'Murano' label? or is this type of dish specific to a particular place / producer. Grateful for any other info on this item (e.g. date range).
Many thanks
Denise

Denise, this type of glass usually has one of two types of labels -- the Crystal Clear label like yours has or the "Lavorazione Arte Murano, Made in Italy" label. This type of glass is probably made in Italy, but not Murano. I suspect it is made in the Naples area, but haven't been able to find anything definite about the company. Crystal Clear is an import company. I believe they operate out of China or Japan. I've not researched them well enough to say for sure. These bowls are abundant. I've read they were made in the 1970s, but I don't really know. It seems that few of us know anything definite about these bowls other than they were not made in Murano. Some people suspect they were made in China, then marketed as Italian. Personally I think they are Italian and, as I mentioned, from the Naples area.
