Title: Pulled rim vase Neodymium? Czech/Murano
Post by: chriscooper on February 05, 2012, 07:53:14 PM
Blue with a darker band of blue cased in clear crystal, expected to see pale blue and pink though in halogen light it looks clear cased but takes on the pink hue under the low energy bulb?
Thought maybe Czech? Zelezny Brod but they don't appear to be cased colours, so Murano maybe?
Stands around 5" high the base is flat highly polished.

Hi Chris...  I'm 99% sure your vase is Czech, but unsure of the glassworks. Hopefully someone more knowledgable will come along to enlighten you.  :usd:

The shape is very ZBS. Will this be yet another item that you ask for information on, then sell on ebay without crediting the GMB? http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,23766.0.html

John

BTW, ZBS did use cased colours.

Oh dear, John, I do believe your statement "Will this be..." is unnecessarily aggressive. :-\

Anyway, I do agree with the ZBS attribution.  Michael (Rocco) has got some examples of multicoloured ZBS vases in his album: https://picasaweb.google.com/107330317087089352634/Czech?authkey=Gv1sRgCPCtsYSivPC5Dg

So do I, but a little less 'wild'.

Thanks Anik I will try to remember to thank you personally when I get round to listing it  ;D
Mr Joseph you seem to have a problem? looked at my last lot of listings and can only find a couple of listings that may 'involve' you the the IoW 'Golden Peacock which you in fact were wrong about and the trailed Mdina vase which really I knew what they were anyway? a couple of caithness paperweights which again pretty much had a an idea what they were anyway so no big deal.
So is a particular item you have a problem with or do check my posts against my eBay listings I am flattered ;D
To be really honest John I am not  bothered whether you reply to my posts or not any more I am actually getting quite disillusioned with certain members on here anyway in regards to my posts to why don't you join them?
For the record if I do know what something is I will always help anyone preferably with a link and photos and never tell anyone to 'search this board' and you will find the answer, I personally find very condescending for every answer to a request on here I have received  I have given back by sharing my little Whitefriars knowledge and often scour catalogues for hours to help.

Just as a note here -- the colors are important if people are buying this form of vase. Rikaro also markets this shape. The ones by Rikaro may be made in China or Japan (I don't know). I haven't seen any neodymium glass with a Rikaro label, so I doubt that this is by them. I would think most likely by ZBS.

Does anyone know if the sizes of the ZBS and Rikaro vases are the same? I have never taken note of the sizes. I also don't know if the ones that are marketed by Rikaro might be from ZBS.

a bit off topic but Re Rikaro - I bought a peacock a couple of years ago which I later found to be Rikaro. I emailed the company and asked where they were made. Their response said "Murano style made in China".

JAK

Quite, I was being facetious. You said you had the book, good god, what more confirmation do you require?

Don't really know where you are going with this? I asked in the first thread for confirmation that it was Golden Peacock sorry your wit, humour, sarcasm was lost on me has  I have already said why not just ignore my 'requests' others do quite blatantly? the  2nd thread was a 'new' pattern I have not seen with a very 'un Mdina like script.
Over the last 6 month I have posted quite a few 'rare' Mdina IoW and Alum Bay pieces  are you nieve enough to think  these items would have done any better or worse whether they were 'shown on here or not or indeed commented on by the self proclaimed experts.
There is no link at the end of my posts that say 'my ebay stuff' no posts in the market place 'promoting' my eBay sales. Try having a look through the board and see just how many people 'use' this board to 'promote' their latest book or e book or glass studio, paid web site, on line shop why there are at least 2 that I know of who actually promote their totally unrelated businesses at the end of every post?
So really cannot see that the spiteful  and and snide comments are necessary or even deserved.
