Two beautiful coloured transparent drinking glasses. Not sure what they are meant for, but assume they are meant for cocktail drinks and would normally come in a set consisting of six. I am convinced that these were made in Northern Italy around the mid 20th Century by Nason Moretti on the Island of Murano. They measure approx. 18.4cm in height. Base dia. 6.4cm dia and the opening 6.7cm. Each glass weighs approx. 220g. The stand sits on the rim only, whilst the rest of the base is concaved. The centre of the base pontil measures 0.3cm approx. and is slightly jagged. I am still in the process of trying to find out more about these particular types but getting rather tired now. :sleep:...............................oh yes, were was I.................. For some reason I am unable to find any info. at the moment. It maybe that I am leading up the wrong path with my investigations. :thud: Any help would be appreciated. ;D

Sorry to disappoint you, but these glasses look to have been machine made and finished with a sprayed on colour. The Nason Morretti pieces I've seen have been hand-made and are much much better quality than these...

Thanks for letting us know, Steve. I am assuming this type was therefore mass produced (machined)? They do have the markings Italy to the base nearer the centre which is part of the glass during it's making. Any ideas as to the company that manufactured these? I would very much like to get my hands on another four, if possible. Then I would have the set! I have looked on a lot of sites and still not able to find this particular fluted drinking glass. Nason Moretti's drinking glasses tend to differ in shape but have the same colouration. Out of pure interest. Did Nason Moretti design one that had the same specification?
I think your right though, they do look machined and sprayed. I tried marking an area with a very sharp object, to not only test the quality, but also to see how thickly the glaze colouring has been applied. ::) I must say, the paint work is very good compared to some glass I have seen in the past.

Even if machine made, the items are quite rare. The production was just one or two years in Parma in the first years of the '80s.
Sprayed: can't be sure but probably CERVE
