Title: This might have passed me by..
Post by: antiquerose123 on February 07, 2012, 09:57:56 PM
 :hi:

I know we talk about some common Murano makers names here....but are these true Murano Vases? and also Just a reminder that there are other names out there I we might have not considered.  Never heard the names Giulio Radi, or Toshi Iwata (??)

Just a thought...

Just thought I would post, as sometimes glass just surprises me so much.  So much to learn!!

I still sometimes wonder about this Red vase of mine  HERE  (http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,42110.0.html) if it might be something more like the top 3 pics I had posted me ??

Radi is a very famous Murano designer who is mainly linked with AVeM. His work is considered among the best. I don't know about Iwata. I know several Oriental people worked in Murano, so it isn't unusual to see the occasional Eastern name.

The last two vases are Murano glass. The last Oriente looks like it could be AVeM to me (just a guess). The first Oriente, I don't have any idea. They look like really nice vases to me.

I wouldn't mind having four of the five things you showed. I'm not so fond of the Iwata vase, though it does look like good glass.

Thanks TxSilver:

That Iwanta guy glass just reminds me of some of the posts when the item looks so well made, but we think it is Chinese or something (or Kwanta) or whatever that company name was for older Asian Glass.  IF I would have seen that piece of Iwanta glass -- I would not have thought it was Murano either as it reminds me some of the better *unknown* glass posted here when we can't figure out the Murano maker.

If that make sense ....LOL.   I have SO much to learn!!!

Ahhh........Maybe something else will come your Way too, that is Nice   :X:

Rose I think you are really onto something here. What are the most attractive 'unknown maker' pieces shown here over the last couple of years? There was a gorgeous piece for sale in Australia a couple of years ago which was 4-5 ducks taking off from a pond and was over 1.5m long. Would not pay the money and had nowhere to show it off anyway.

I wonder who the experts are that ID a Toshi Iwata piece? What references do they have access to and where they gained their knowledge.

Love the Radi pieces. Wonder what the ebay buyers were thinking paying $11,000 of a piece of Oriente when a similar piece can sell on a specialist auction for $150.
