Title: Large amber ribbed jug and glasses
Post by: Lustrousstone on March 14, 2006, 05:21:31 PM
Found these today in a charity shop. My first thought was Whitefriars but now I've been through the catalogues, maybe Scandi. Jug is 11.5 inches tall with a ground out but not polished pontil mark and glasses are 5.5 inches tall, no pontils. They're in a lovely pale amber mould blown glass. The jug has an ice lip and the ribbing is most pronunced on the inside. Click to enlarge

Hi Christine

Jugs are such a problem area, aren't they?!  There's just so many of them, in so many styles.  :x

I can't identify your item, but they look Italian to me...only a hunch though.  Is that a ground, but not polished pontil mark I see?  That's rather odd, I wonder if that will help you narrow down a maker?  :?

Yet another shameless bump. My excuse is I'm updating faulty looking links

 That's great. It would be fantastic if everyone could do the same.

I was looking through some older posts and thought this pitcher set was wonderfully elegant  :).  Christine, did you have any luck finding some new leads as to the origin?
