Thought this new Mdina acquisition deserved a showing.
I presume these were a Harris design..? and would date pre 72..?
Enjoy.

Hi Greg, I'm sure these have been on the board before and Mark Hill discussed them. I will have a look to see if I can find the thread.
They are rather gorgeous.

Sorry if you find it and then see my post i was just about to post it as you were posting. I was reading it just the other day in unresolved section.

;D we cross posted

Thought that link look familiar ;)
Thanks both for the link, I think I must have missed that thread previously.

Oh yes, Greg. pre-'72, Harris design. Rather scarce, well done indeed!

Thanks for the date/ design confirmation Sue.
Wasn't a bargain purchase by any means, but a nice addition. :)

Very nice and very hard to find. According to Mr Hill on page 48 of his Michael Harris book, one of Vincente Boffo first tasks was the trailing for the knopps on the chalices, same technique here. If you don't want to use it as a candlestick it might make an interesting liqueur glass.... :-X
How tall is it?

Certainly would make an interesting liqueur vessel. :)
Measures 5.5 inches tall.

Hi,
It was mine in the original post, since then I have picked up 4 others so I don't think they are that rare. I also see there are 2 listed on the IOW Mdina archive sale.
They are nice and display well as pairs

I don't use the "r" word, but you finding 4 is a bit of a shock Jimbo - I think that's simply a matter of a lot of luck for you, they are scarce. Honest. The ones from the Harris collection currently sold are, to my knowledge, the first and last from that source.
I've certainly only encountered fewer than 20, including these that you mention, in 12 years of Mdina hunting.
I've seen/know of more crizzle stones.
