Title: Crystal Clear CAT -- Signed JG Durand = ID = Durand / Arc, France
Post by: antiquerose123 on February 18, 2012, 03:26:43 AM
 :hi:

Another piece I picked up at the Collectible show.  I thought he (the cat) was very Striking!!  I liked.  I did not notice till I got home that it was signed.  Looks like Durand (which is France I believe).  Any other knowledge about this guy?  Or year?

~ 5.50 inches tall
~ 2.75 long
~ 1.25 wide

Just such a striking piece I find, IMHO......I HAD to have him !!       Thanks

J.G. Durand is & has been into everything for years, Luminarc, Cristal D'Arques, Mikasa, etc. They've been selling animals for many years & your cat is on several eBay auctions. Not certain a date can be pinpointed though. Ken

jg durand is a brand from ARC - the largest single glass maker in the world. Brands include arcopal, arcoroc, crystal d' arques, arcuisine and others. ( though not Mikasa). The line of higher quality table ware was introduced 10 or 15 years ago - unr the name if the firm' s owner Durand.

He is lovely Rose, a very elegant piece,  quite Egyptian in style....I would have bought hin as well.
It is only postage costs that stop me getting them from eBay, they are heavy.
But I do like glass cats and have many of them from all over the world.
Nice that he is so clearly marked.

Ivo although granted its not a brand, ARC aquired Mikasa in 2000. Thats why I said they were into just about everything.

Thanks Ohio and Ivo too.

I think every *glassie* member here should have a pair of these (at about 5 feet tall) at the road entrance to your home.  Think how Grand that would be!!   Not some type of stone, or concrete pair of these -- but Glass ones -- Gracing (or keeping watch....LOL) over your home!

I think it just looks Exquisite!  LOL

Rose, If you like cats Viking made their Epic Cat which when it comes to glass cat designs is at least a bit more regal like yours although maybe not quite as detailed. They are a little tough to find for some odd reason.

@ Ohio -- Will keep a look out for that one too.  I do not think I have ever seen that one either....ever

I have these others cats  Here  (http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,34831.0.html).  Plus some other ones if you use the search menu here on the board.  I have a Cat that looks Murano (or Chinese) but I have received no replies on that one.

Gotta like Glass cats -- as one is watching ME right now   LOL  ;D
