Title: Old dog, new tricks !!
Post by: petet63 on February 25, 2012, 12:13:38 PM
After posting many badly photographed items on here I asked for help and you came up trumps. After buying a little light tent and a bit of trial and error I think there is a distinct improvement. Still room for improvement but I'm getting better. Also getting so much better at finding nice glass. What I'm not happy about is he fact that I'm struggling now to not become a collector !! The 3 items in the pic below came up great after a good clean and I want to keep them !!! Thanks all. Now I need to find some way of getting a good sale instead of constantly using ebay which as you know is difficult.

Now I need to find some way of getting a good sale instead of constantly using ebay which as you know is difficult.

We sell on Rubylane.com and get pretty good results (not meant as an advertisement for us but rather a general recommendation).  They have a flat fee structure, rather than taking a percentage.  Most of their shops are American, but there are a fair number of UK dealers as well.

I know some people have had luck with selling vintage items on Etsy.com, but I've never tried it.

I have had a look at Ruby Lane. I don't sell enough to use the site but its a good place to research and have it bookmarked so it will be a help. Thanks.

Great photos Pete - I just use outside and the natural light - but the light tent you use seems very effective - Like the firts photo with the Riihimaen and Czech piece - is the back piece Scandi?

The tent was cheap on ebay and I have a strong lamp I shine on the top of the tent. I bought the 80 inch tent but should have got a smaller one. The two vases are scandi. Was very tempted to keep this set as soon as I cleaned them, they look great but needs must and the boss says to sell  ;D I really enjoyed messing about with the tent and getting some nice pictures out of it. ;D
