Title: Translucent Pink Glass that glows BLUE/VIOLET Under UV lamp..
Post by: Mtebob on February 27, 2012, 10:26:56 PM
Hello,
I acquired a creamer and sugar bowl at a rummage sale. This set is a translucent pink. The glass glows a blue violet under a UV lamp. I did some research online and found nothing. I know that it is not vaseline glass because it would have glowed green/yellow.
Im sure someone out there knows what to call this type of glass. I hope.

There is nothing significant about the blue or purple color being reflected. Opaline glass does this. It doesn't absorb any bandwidth emitted by a black light to any great extent, so reflects the light back at the viewer. It does indicate the glass is opaline, if that is helpful.
