It isn't alabaster glass (or alabastro). It looks more like opalino, or perhaps a bowl that has a a touch of opaline in it. The ashtray looks like it could be Murano glass to me, but I don't know who.

Stew would it be possible to upload at least one of your pictures directly to the site please?
I keep getting odd messages when I click on photobucket images so I just click straight off again without being able to see the glass. And it means that if the photobucket links disappear there is no record of the item being discussed :-\
It would be great if you could, thanks

;D you can upload 4 pics to each post, rather than doing them one under the other.
You just click (more attachments) and it opens another browse window for you.

no trouble next time will do . any ideas on the bowl

opal glass or opalescent glass is probably the correct term for that layer - not opaline, or opalino, or albastro. I vote Murano and yes it is lovely.
-
It's a beautiful colour, I think quite unusual, well not what I usually see when I see Murano bowls - and the opalescent treatment makes it really glow. It reminds me of the lilac used, it has that similar glow.
Maybe using Murano blue opalescent as a search might throw up some other pieces in a similar colour?
