Title: Fascinating iridescent sculpture Studio vase
Post by: Andy on March 01, 2012, 07:58:37 AM
Ive seen a similar shape somewhere, cant remember where  ::)
Decor pattern aslo looks similar to a few companies/studios. Lovely iridescence. I think its all one piece of glass, light blue, blown , different finishes applied to surface, and then shaped. 8 inches tall.
I have a feeling someones going to know this one straight away!
Hope so  :X:

Cheers
Andy

Mtarfa made 'intestinal' vases like that but I do not remember seeing an iridised version before.

John, I think you've hit the nail on the head
Waynes Great Glass site...
http://www.20thcenturyglass.com/glass_encyclopedia/maltese_glass/mtarfa_glass.htm

10 rows down, same shape, iridescent blue!
Never been a great fan of Mtarfa, but if this is right, and it looks pretty certain! Its the best and nicest
piece i've seen from them!
I knew it was familiar! Its got the 'Harris' Maltese IOW feel!

Cheers and many thanks
Andy

edit 'Intestinal' Good description !  :P

Rather a lovely set of guts - I've not seen one before either.
Mtarfa is one to watch. Some of it is fabulous, other stuff doesn't quite do it.....
I rather love this bit.

I don't normally like the intestines bottles, honest!

This one has lovely bulgey bits as well as lovely and interesting iridesence.
It's full intestines - not emaciated.

Sue,
it was more the iridescent and finish i meant, when i thought you'd like it, rather than the 'guts shape'
Its the first one of this shape i've liked! Actually first bit of Mtarfa i've liked, although your bits quite nice!
