Title: Castello Murano amber glass vase

Hi,
  Please could anyone help me identify whether this is a murano vase and also more importantly, a real one. I have posted a couple of picture and would be very grateful for any replies. Thank you for your time, kind regards, John.

Your pics aren't blowing up for me.  Although the vase does look quite distinctive and someone may recognise it instantly, it might help if your pictures enlarged better so the details could be seen a bit more please.

your vase seems to have a signature on the bottom?
Can you make out what it says at all.

Hi, Thanks again for responses. It looks to say casttello murono. It stands 12" tall and is 7" at base to 4" at top. Thanks again, John.

Hi,
Confusingly, Castello is a district of Venice where some glass is produced, but is not on the island of Murano.
More likely given the design is that this is from Castello Glass who are a dutch company (Castello Glas BV) who have glass made for them on Murano. However, I can't definitively confirm the maker or mark as the only Italian glass I have handled that was labelled Castello had beer of the same name in it. :cheers:

Thank you all for your responses. I will look into Castello BV as that sounds very promising, although it does read casttello murono or muruno. Any more help would be greatly received. Many thanks, John.

You should find their site and other information by a search for "Castello Glas BV" or access their home page at www.castelloglas.nl
