Title: Uranium glass Candle holder controlled bubble
Post by: petet63 on March 02, 2012, 03:55:05 PM
Hi all, I was told this might  be Whitefriars just after I bought it. Haven't seen anything listed as Whitefriars uranium and read on here they did make some. It is 4cm in height and 6 cms wide. Hope Pics are ok. Pete

 :spls:

I'm not positive the glow isn't manganese - there are dark patches I wouldn't associate with uranium glow, I'm not sure the bubbles would show through a true uranium glow either.
I suspect it only looks fairly glowy because it's very thick.
Christine?????????  :hi:

I don't know, but it's not Whitefriars. Is that glow in daylight under UV?

Only the black background is using a UV light in a dark room. I had this next to another piece of UG and it had an identical colour. The manganese one I have is a dull glow. I mentioned WF as someone saw me after I bought it and said it. I took photos in daylight with the flash and it glowed in the photo. Could also see it in sunlight which was why I picked it up, Im a man and it was sparkly  ;D ;D

I appreciate that it looks a little too conventional/non-arty for the Gulf of Venice,..........but, both the controlled bubbles AND the uranium content tick boxes for Murano????

Still just a hobby for me, actually its all I can do  ;D (without putting myself back in Hospital) I like following up any links and advice on here so Thank you all once again. Pete

Two more pictures. One taken on black background in daylight and the other on black background in a dark room with UV both no flash.
