Title: Kraka signature

I just bought this piece:

The signature is:
580828 0084
ORREFORS
Kraka N 486
Sven Palmquist

I've had a number of pieces of orrefors before and am happy that the signature is genuine. Diameter is 23 cm

Looking around I've found his piece:

Also signed 486 but with the more traditional smaller bubbles

I'd be interested in any info on my piece, I can tell its a new piece, but what does the 10 digit number represent ?

It shouldn't be a new piece as they stopped making them in 1986.  I've got Nr 526, with a very similar mesh pattern, which is a littel bit of an oddity.

According to Ruding's chapter on Orrefors coding,  486 was designed in 1969.

She writes, "Starting in 1960 kraka was brought into series production, though unique pieces were made, too. Certain model numbers were produced in long series from 1960 until 1986. They are marked with P or PU and the serial number, and sometimes with article number 9414 before the serial number."

She lists the models that were produced in long series, and 486 isn't one of them.  From the absence of the "P" I would say yours is a 1969 version. I can't explain the other numbers.

I seem to remember another thread that covered much the same ground as this one. Perhaps it has more info.

Looking around further it looks like the platter with the small bubbles should actually be 436, so probably no connection between the to

the long number looks to be in a different hand, but is scratched, not vibro pen

My guess would be that the numbers are post-production, an acquisition number, perhaps. The rest of script conforms the usual pattern. Of course, Daniel's opinion will be definitive.

No need for guessing.
The top numbers are a swedish personal number. All swedes have one. This number goes to a woman born 1958, she lives in stockholm.
I remember during the early 90's or so that it was adviced to mark all valuable belongings. Some used their personal number.....

The bowl should date back to 1969 as suggested. I think it's a "unique" piece.
