Title: Whitefriars wannabe bark effect ashtray. ID help?
Post by: scavo on March 17, 2012, 05:20:57 PM
Thanks for looking.
I'm sure someone knows what this is as I'm sure this is nothing unique.

I'm guessing it's Davidson. I can't see anything in the Hajdamach 20th century book.

Thanks in advance.

American - Anchor Hocking I think, but I can't remember the design name

Edited to add Sorrento perhaps

Just because it's bark textured doesn't mean it's a Whitefriars wannabee

Thanks Christine, you're bang on with the maker and title. It's Soreno by Anchor Hocking.

How much is R130 and where are they?

yeah, sorry about the term. Just trying to use something descriptive to let people know what the thread is about. I don't like to just say -'please help ID this ashtray' or say even less as some do.

Anyhow, it got you to look and ID correctly for me. I'm eternally gratitudinous.

Cheers for chipping in Andy. No cigar this time!

The seller is in South Africa. Those ashtrays are pretty common here

Just an Ocean away, i knew it was familiar, and not British, so maybe just a small cigarillo, although i've given up smoking  ;D

Andy: a biddie, or a roll up maybe?

Christine: Yeah, 130 Rand is about £10. So, here in the UK, if I were to sell it - what should I expect? £5? £10?
