Title: Exuberant Lamp
Post by: horochar on March 18, 2006, 02:48:05 PM
I'm hoping someone can help me identify the maker and age of this lamp from my collection, as well as any information about technique and design inspiration.  It somehow reminds me of a sea creature or some kind of "neo baroque" fantasy.  Or just standard 1950s murano design?  One thing that makes this lamp different than others I've seen online is that the exterior glass is reddish copper in hue, not crystal clear. (The middle picture is more accurate than the last one).
Thanks!

Looks to me like a Seguso lamp from the early post-war period around 1948-1952.

Thanks Chuggy.  That's helpful information.  Now my challenge is to find a suitable lampshade that doesn't distract from the sculptural aspects of piece.  It came with an old-fashioned, "waisted" shade that looks terrible.  Hopefully I'll work out the problem through trial and error.
