nothing very special in the cutting, and seems a quite recently produced piece, but am sure I've not seen a back stamp with this simple upper case 'B' like this before. Royal Brierley is the only contender I can immediately think of. What do people think please.

???
Is that not a Dartington mark.......? They do have one shaped like a B.

It's ok, jp, no need to panic, I have a brilliant brain, not a "mind" (merely an illusion of consciousness).
I don't subscribe to dualism. ;D

uhmmmm..........well it's probably me, not being accustomed to seeing cut glass from Dartington - although oddly enough the word Dartington did go through my mind, but I dismissed it straight away.
So they had a mark shaped like a B did they..........is that recorded somewhere in one of the books Sue?
I understand that Wedgwood produced one of FT's designs (in cut glass) called 'Justine' - do you think this piece might be from that service?
thanks for your help by the way - and jp's :)

The Dartington logo "looking like a B" is likely not that - but a D with an E included - which doesn't look like the mark in question.

Here it is Paul on the base of your Dartington vase: http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,46577.0.html
One here too, a bit more detail: http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-29
Not sure the mark on this glass is the same though, Dartington did do a few cut bits and bobs (Sharon Decanters and glasses in several patterns). ;D

I would agree with Wuff that the Dartington sandblasted mark (shown in Mark Hill's small booklet) does look different to the mark on my glass. ??? I think the jury is still out. :)
having just written the above, John has attached something that I was going to attach, for comparison - the backstamp from my vase the other day - which incidentally, Linda Smithson has today confirmed as post FT (some time in the 1990's) - so no FT No. (so Jackie was correct).
I have the drinking glass and the vase in front of me - and there is no doubt that when compared these backstamps are very different in size and outline.
If the vase was produced during the '90's and the cut drinking glass at a similar time, you'd expect the backstamp to look similar. However, I suppose if the pieces were made at different places, then maybe the workers had access to backstamps of differing format/style or whatever.
I don't know when the 'Justine' range of cut wares was produced, or even if this pattern is from that range - it looks similar, but.............
