Title: Mystery bowl. Any help in id much appreciated.
Post by: refraction on October 30, 2004, 11:38:59 AM
Dear all,

I only recently discovered this board; I have been lurking for a week or so and I am very impressed with the knowledge offered so freely here. I hope I will be able to chip into discussions in the future, but in the meantime I wonder if anyone could help me with this...

I recently bought a bowl off eBay with included black ovals, shown below. I am not convinced that it has a lot of age, but I have never seen one before, and can never resist those mystery items. It is cased, with quite thick walls and a hand finished rim (as far as I can tell). There is no ground out pontil mark, but it has a base which is more or less cut flat and polished. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Simon
