Title: Yellow uranium glass
Post by: Simba on March 29, 2012, 04:47:35 PM
Can anyone help me identify this unusual yellow glass lidded jar or apothacary jar I'm not sure what to call it. It has lovely swirls of uranium green in it when held to the light. Its about 10 inches high amd 4.5 inches at widest point. the foot is clear and its a bit out of line on the foot. I can't tell how old it is ?

With a clear foot and an oversized hollow blown lid I tend to vote Empoli....

hello Simba - nice decorative piece  -  although I'm having trouble seeing the green behind all that yellow :)       If you have a u.v. torch, may we see a picture of your piece glowing please.

I suspect it will glow orange (cadmium) rather than green. I vote Empoli with Ivo

It won't glow green when that UV light finally gets batteries.

I think yours is actually more typical of Empoli that that on Wayne's website with the twists and little footed base.

Be nice if you can get it under UV so we can which way it's going to glow.

Yellow = cadmium; Orange = Selenium, I think?
