Nice Sommerso vase in "classic" colourway -- bluish purple / pinkish red / cased in colourless glass.
Height 20 cm, flat polished base, rim cut and polished with bevelled edge (outside and inside).
Pieces in this colourway seem to be either by Archimede Seguso (like this one (http://www.20thcenturyglass.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=65_76&products_id=4214&zenid=9721b9bbeb699e3aa35435e0eeac1f73) on Wayne's site, and one in Pina's book), or attributed to Flavio Poli for Seguso Vetri d'Arte (like the pieces here (http://www.auctions-fischer.de/kataloge/online-kataloge/196-i-europaeisches-glas-studioglass.html?kategorie=22&artikel=13612&L=&cHash=1ffe9cbe49), here (http://kocoma-collection.blogspot.com/2011/02/rare-flavio-poli-sommerso-vase-seguso.html) and here (http://www.von-zezschwitz.de/detail.php?onlinecatalog=1&chapter=4&objectid=23394&ref=%252Fonlinecatalog.php%253Fid%253D44%2526chapter%253D4%2526view%253Dgallery%2526language%253Ddeutsch&id=44&language=deutsch)).
No idea if there are other makers as well who used this colourway.
Does the shape give any clues?
Thanks for any help,
Michael

Rim pics would be good...

Ok, hope it helps :)

Hi rocco. It looks like a really well made piece. The shape does remind me of some Poli pieces I own and the colourway looks good. Not chinese done. The rim looks well finished. I would just leave it as Seguso at the moment. Whether it is A.S or SVdA. If I stumble upon something I will post here. Very good find in my opinion.

Thanks a lot, Kane!
It has several flaws, but still displays beautifully :)
I am very happy with the Seguso attribution -- let's see if it can be narrowed down further one day...

I have a similar piece.
Have had this for a very long time and have always wonder where it came from.

Rob, very nice!
I wouldn't call it similar -- it seems to be identical. Is it the same height as mine?
Maybe the colours in yours can help in narrowing down the maker -- that turquoise is not the most common colour in Murano glass.
I have found several pieces (most designed by Mario Pinzoni for Seguso V. d'A.) with a similar casing:

Yes it is the same height as yours Michael.
Those examples you posted are great.
For years I have always doubted this piece was even Murano because of the turquoise.
Now there is a definite possibility.

It looks good buster for Murano...I must admit I haven't seen your colour combination very often. Only a handful of times over the years. It could be a relative of rocco's piece!
-
Very, very well made.
Time ago I saw piece with the same color combination made by Seguso, but with a different shape.
Sincerely
Alex

I've a tall cylinder vase in the same colour combination bearing a 1960s SVdA label - will add pics when I can.

Thanks for your input, Alex and Nic -- very much appreciated!
So Seguso VdA is quite possible as a maker of our vases -- nice :)

I still need to take a proper studio shot of the vase, but here's a snapshot:
-
I've seen the color combination used fairly often for Seguso VdA and Archimede Seguso. I could be remembering wrong, but Archimede may have executed some of the Seguso VdA pieces. The clean line and colors make me think it is one of the two companies. The rim makes me favor VdA. It looks like a nicely executed vase.
-
I believe he did execute some pieces for SVdA in the 50's in the sommerso style. Hard to tell though as that pic does not give enough detail. From the looks of it I would say yes. Simple but classic styling as only A.S could do.
-
These photos will hopefully be a little more instructive. Cut, polished and chamfered rim and base.

Thanks for posting the beautiful pics, Nic!
The vase is stunning :P

Drool worthy! If you don't want it I will happily take it of your hands LOL

I'd exchange it for one of these in the same lovely colour-scheme:
