Title: Unusual pulled ear heavy weight vase uranium content??
Post by: glasskillian on April 02, 2012, 05:24:37 PM
Heavy little vase of 4.5" tall 2.5" deep and 3.5" wide very heavy glows wildy with blacklight...
Seems to be a sort of somersso blue/clear glass with a sort of porcelain in the middle with a hoop of black. The base has a small polished base. Have seen a similar desiign by vicke lindstrand and some similar vases which were czech but sadly nothing exacty right any ideas???

I would be extremely surprised if it contained uranium; manganese maybe. The colour doesn't give a hint of uranium. The interior won't be porcelain either; it's just opaque white glass

Oh, very nice -- would love to have that in my collection! :)

It is Czech, Skrdlovice glassworks, by Maria Stahlikova and Milena Veliskova, PN 6006 (designed in 1960)

As I'm a big Stahlikova fan, I'd be interested in buying it.  If you're interested in selling it, my email address can be accessed by clicking on the envelope to the left of this messge. Amazing pick up on the design, Michael.
