This vase recently came over from Denmark - although I'm quite sure that it's not Danish. Niggly feeling that there's something similar illustrated in Smoke & Ice, but my copy is packed away in a box somewhere.
It's 6"/15cm tall, very bubbly blue glass heavily cased in clear with a rim of swirled blue frit - although this might just be a byproduct of the firepolished finish.
Moulded base with firepolished pontil mark. Plenty of wear to it.
Any help gratefully received.

Could there be a connection here?

You don't show the base to yours. Would mine be described as 'firepolished'?

Re Fire & Sea, page 55, there is a bowl from Randsfjordglass that looks spot on to me. As far as I can tell from the photo in the book the rim looks the same, colour and technique seem to match very well - "internally coloured with charcoal blue particles and filled with random sized bubble throughout"
Lovely vase.

Ah, excellent sleuthing! It gave me somewhere to start. Thanks.
This auction website credits the design to Benny Motzfeldt for Randsfjord (lots 104-105):

But then this reference site attributes it to Motzfeldt for Plus (5th image from the bottom):

Yours looks ground down to me. I don't think there's any relation between the two vases, sorry.

Nic, I often see Plus Benny Motzfeldt piece marked PLUS BM when she has designed them. I also see Randsfjord glass unmarked although designed by Benny Motzfeldt. I would wonder if it was PLUS, why it isn't marked however hopefully someone will be along who will be able to explain it :)

It's page 55 of Smoke and Ice rather than Fire and Sea. It looks very much the same piece. It's more in keeping with the work Motzfeldt did for Randsfjordglass than for Plus. That's consistent with no markings as Randsfjordglass relied on labels usually.

Thanks, all, for taking a peek and narrowing it down.

Thanks, where can I see examples of firepolished glass bases online, so I know what I'm looking at?
