Title: Old english, but which manufacture and is it repolished?
Post by: incazzatonero on April 05, 2012, 06:41:35 PM
I have got this PW on yesterday.
I like it very much, but do not know which manufacture and how old it is.
It is in very good condition,
The paperweight is 9.5cm (3.75 inches) wide by 4cm (1.5 inches) high.
It has a very small step (0.1cm) to the base and a rough pontil mark.
There is some scratching to the base.
The dome itself is clean and bright and in excellent condition,
because the dome is repolished?
Any opinions?

Hi Lothar

Your paperweight looks to me to be from the unknown English manufacturer which I call 'OE2 Group', and it is almost certainly a repolished bottle base. I have attached an image of a similar but complete bottle.

There are more images of weights from this manufacturer on my website, in the Old English identification section.
