Title: Loetz Kolomon Moser?
Post by: dinklepip on April 06, 2012, 09:54:01 AM
Acquired 11 of these crystal shotglasses yesterday at my local auction, I also have a matching jug as regards the style of crackle.   Can anyone confirm these are Loetz Kolomon Moser please as I am finding conflicting ID's on the net

Hi please could you upload your pictures directly to the site?  otherwise in future if anything happens to the site you have your pictures on, they are lost from the thread rendering the topic useless to others.
Many thanks :)

Nice!  I like them :)  and the crackle is a nice open crackle as well.  Can't really help further but have you been to Loetz.com where Alfredo I think has put a number of these jugs on display and discussed the maker id'd so far.
Also if you search the gmb (apologies if you already have), I believe there was a discussion on these as there are different variants I think.

Is that a flat ground bottom, or is there a pontil mark of some kind I do not see?

I seem to remember from a long time ago that we established that these were loosely based on a koloman moser design - but produced much later and redesigned by ? Was it Oliva? - there is an extensive thread in the archives for who wants to read the full story.

Is your jug similar to the ones on the links here and please could you post a picture of it so we know what we are discussing?  There are a few clear ones on the link I provided and whilst I know you are referring to the bulbous ones with an all in handle there are also 2 versions of those, one with a pontil mark and one  without.
many thanks

The flat ground and polished underside on the glasses would likely preclude it from being early Bohemian, as this was not a common practice at that time.
