Post by: ic1 on April 09, 2012, 07:53:48 AM
Hi a recent purchase, reminds me of both Czech,Scandi and possilbly Italian, but I'm no expert so I wonder if some kind soul out there can help!total height is 20cms and the item has no polished pontilbut appears to be press moulded or blown and finely finished on the rim. I hope someone out there can help!

Hi ic1,
I agree that it looks Czech or Empoli by the shape, and the colour looks Scandinavian or Empoli.
Photos of the base, top rim and close-up of the little lugs would help for sure.

With it having what looks like four mould lines on the base i would think Czech. I'm not sure that the lid goes with it, seems more like it's from an Empoli container of some kind.

Thanks Tigerchips, it does remind me of of Empoli, but I've never seen one in this colour and I had a Scandi vase in this colour which is why i thought that it might be from that part of the world.Regards

Looks Czech to me; Borske Sklo like this one (http://www.20thcenturyglass.com/images/items/bohemian_glass/borske_glass/borskeglass_bobble14.jpg)

The lid is wrong if it is.

Thanks again Lustrusstone, just checked out Borske Sklo and found a similar one with the same base! I still like it with the lid but now I am looking for an Empoli Jar for it to sit On! Thanks again. Regards.

The Borske one looks more rounded at the bottom than ic1's blue one, which seems to curve slightly inward rather than being as bulbous...  or is it a trick of the camera?
