thx a lot !!

:o :o :o
It doesn't have a handle.... Thomas - it's not a claret jug!
But it is exceptionally beautiful - my favourite colours. 8)

no handle - not a claret jug .. but it was a must - it was really inexpensive - love the colours - especially when the sun shines through - its a real whopper :-) ;D

Really impressive engraving casing etc... don't know who or what or when but great stuff......!

WOW !!!!!!

I feel I need my shades on to look at this one Thomas - it's dazzling :) It's the 'inexpensive' bit that I really like. ;)
Sorry, way out of my league, but just a vague thought...............quality pieces often have 'matching Nos. scratched on the stopper and on the body - they're found commonly on decanters, as you will know. If this had Nos., the style of script would probably indicate whether Continental, or British - possibly. Of course, if you don't have any Nos. then no go.

Isn't it a Stevens and Williams decanter though Paul? as per the heading ;)
It's just a matter of who engraved it :)

hi dear glass experts . there is a scratched number .. i think its a 1 on the base and a one at the stopper .. i have a similar hock glass different colours - they sell for quite a lot at fieldings auctioneers.. actually i have never seen a decanter of that size in these colours ...but its definitely not my cup of tea .. because i need some money for my claret jugs - so i think it will be the best to sell it .. !
tomorrow i am going to england for one week .. really looking forward .. goinf to an auction in salibury on tuesday .. there are 2 nice claret jugs which would be a nice addition .. so its all about in and out with the stuff :-) .. thx for your comments !!! p.s if possible i would like to have some sunshine next week :-) ;D
-
quite right m.........not reading the title, I'm afraid :-[ quote......... "p.s if possible i would like to have some sunshine next week :-)" - so would we as it happens, been rather cold and wet here for the last few days.
-
Thomas have a fab week here - I'm sure you'll bring the good weather with you ;D. And good luck at the auction.

:D thx a lot :-)

Yes, good luck at the auction Thomas, but bring an umbrella, the weather forecast is dismal here.....stay in the auction house and keep dry that way!
And I would just like to add how beautiful that Claret Jug/bottle/decanter is.....enjoy its beauty for a little while before parting with it.....you don't want sellers remorse, do you?
Wave as you pass through Hampshire on your way to Wiltshire. Safe Journey.

Thomas I'm sure you have far more references than I, and this is probably not all that helpful, but in CH 20th CenturyBritish Glass page 33, there is a plate of hock glasses, one of which is similar colours to yours - the blurb underneath does mention '...Harry Whitworth who joined the firm as an engraver in 1916, is recorded as decorating a Rockinghan cased on citron hock glass in 1918'.
I have no idea what 'Rockingham' means or whether the dates fit in, but it may be another name to search for?
