Title: Clear pressed glass dish – ID, please?
Post by: agincourt17 on April 25, 2012, 03:53:24 PM
Oval clear pressed glass dish. 190mmx140mm; 42mm deep. All embossed pattern on exterior. Unmarked.

An ideas as to maker and pattern, please. I’m presuming Victorian or early 20th century.

Thanks in advance for any information.

I don't think we should necessarily presume it's that old - although it may well turn out to be so.    How many of those small turret feet are there, and what wear do they show, if any?     What is the extent of wear on the inside of the dish?        Is the glass fine and clear, or are there small bubbles - and even possibly seeds?       Is the entirre pattern in relief - as opposed to below the glass surface (as in much pressed glass)? - and where was the piece sourced from?  :)
