Title: Large Clear Glass Centrepiece?
Post by: davidbramall on April 26, 2012, 11:19:43 AM
Hi Everyone,

I have a large clear glass centrepiece bowl that I purchased with a few other pieces from a market in Toulouse a few weeks ago and was wondering if someone could help me identify where it was made and if possible who made it.

It is very heavy and weighs about 3180 grams, it measures about 14 inches across at the top and is 10 inches high. It is clear glass with a slight green tinge to it. The glass looks like a flower shape from above although each 'point' is leaf shaped with 'veins' decorated on them.

I believe it is quite modern although I am completely dumbfounded by it if being honest.

I have attached some pictures and look forward to your replies.

Thanks,
Dave

Hello there - welcome to the GMB (just in case we forgot earlier).

The item is made from recycled glass, hence the greenish colour. There are several large factories in Spain making such glass, and usually the pieces are large and heavy. Not just that, they are also well designed, stable and functional. Not sure who the maker of this specific item is - it might well be Mediterranea but could also be one of the others. All these industries have been on the market since the 1980s.
