Title: Purely for the sake of sharing: Zbigniew Horbowy vase
Post by: Anik R on May 07, 2012, 03:55:03 PM
Hi,

I just wanted to show a piece by a man who has been called the 'guru of Polish glass' - Zbigniew Horbowy.

The vase is mushroom-shaped with a short, fluted neck. It's 16cm tall, 10cm at its widest and weighs 679g.  The base has visible rings and a sharp, snapped-off pontil mark.

It was made at Huta Sudety in Szczytna Śląska in the early 1970s, and came in 4 sizes: 16, 18, 21 and 25cm.  A photograph of these vases appears on page 69 of the book "Zbigniew Horbowy" by Barbara Banaś.

It's my first Horbowy vase. :)
